Ziti
What a fun way to start the year! This little girl is the sweetest, quietist little calf we've had in a long time. She is all knees and elbows, and I can't wait to snuggle her more! She's very petite / small framed, but she does have legs for days. She's everybody's friend and loves to make the other calves romp and play with her.
Mama Winter (aka Crazy Mama, if you follow our FB page) came to us already bred for a fall calf, so imagine our surprise when she arrived! I do have a picture of the sire for serious inquiries.
DOB 4/26/2025. Whitepark, white with yellow / red / dun tips. Mid-mini, horned, non-chondro.
AVAILABLE in the fall after weaning.

BBR Bow Tie
What more could you ask than a cutie highpark bull calf! He's fluffy and curious ... Into everything and loves when we have visitors.
Marianne is the mama to this little guy we call Bow Tie. She's an experienced mama with just the right amount of protection and freedom. Sire is our own Boots.
DOB 5/24/25. Highpark (75% Highland), white with black tips. Mid-mini, heterozygous polled, non-chondro. Chondro and polled status confirmed per UC Davis.
AVAILABLE in the fall after weaning.

BBR Orzo
What more could you ask than a cutie highpark! The answer to that is TWO cutie highparks! This little guy we call Orzo is cute as a button, especially when he hangs out with his buddy Bow Tie. I call them Double Trouble because I can hardly tell them apart!
Orzo's mama is Ginger, one of our all around sweetest cows. Sire is Boots, who clearly knows how to stamp is look.
DOB 5/30/25. Highpark (75% Highland), white with black tips. Mid-mini, heterozygous polled, non-chondro. Chondro and polled status confirmed via per UC Davis.
AVAILABLE in the fall after weaning.

BBR Buccatini "Buc"
I'm a sucker for a sweet little beltie face! And this little guy has the cutest heart-shaped markings on his sides.
Bucatini's mama is Tink, our smallest mature mama at under 40", and quite possibly one of our best mamas! And sire is T T, who's chondro+ and also under 40". This little guy is non-chondro per testing at UC Davis, but he was born just about as small as our chondro calves, and he will be small! He loves his mama, and I can't wait until he loves me too!
DOB 5/25/25. Belted Galloway, black with white markings (not a full belt), mini, polled, non-chondro. Chondro status confirmed via UC Davis.
AVAILABLE in the fall after weaning.

BBR Stelline "Stelli"
I thought we were going to have a bull year, when this sweet little girl showed up. Stelline is the first of our calves out of Ryder. This is the third calf out of this pairing of Lovey x Ryder, and man, they do not disappoint!
Stelli is shy and sweet, about like all the other littles out of this pairing. Now that we've had a few, we pretty much know how she's develop socially -- sweet and calm. She was a bit premature, so we spent a good bit of time with her working on how to really access the milk bar. It's funny how you put extra time into a sweet baby, and then love her even more.
DOB 6/5/25. Full Highland, HHCA-A registered, yellow, mid-mini, horned, non-chondro. Color confirmed via UC Davis.
WAIT LIST (contact us to get on the waitlist).

BBR Penne
Penne arrived, and what a cute way to even the bull/heifer scorecard! Those ears!!!!!
Penne is our second Ryder calf, and Fireball is her mama. Fireball is a first timer, but she's taken to motherhood like a champ! I love watching Fireball out in the pasture putting Penne down for a nap, or dropping her off at babysitting, or giving her a bath.
The biggest surprise is that she is yellow, exactly like Stelli! I would've bet you a small calf that she was read like her mama.
DOB 6/10/25. Highland, HHCA-A registered, yellow, mid-mini, horned, non-chondro. Color confirmed via UC Davis.
WAIT LIST (contact us to get on the waitlist).

BBR Rigatoni "Rig"
The last of Ryder's calves for the year is ... a stunner!!! His gorgeous curious eyes just stare straight into your soul. And day 1. you can see the bottle brush fluff that's going to grow long and luxurious.
Rig's mama is Maria, and we've been waiting and waiting for this pairing! Maria is a perfect small size and has amazing hair to add to Ryder's hair and horns. Maria is a first timer and she clearly has been waiting for this calf as well.
DOB 6/17/25. Highland, HHCA-A registered, silver, mid-mini, horned, non-chondro. Color confirmed via UC Davis.
AVAILABLE in the fall after weaning.

BBR Fideo
The last of Boots' calves for the year is ... also a stunner!!! I mean, he is such a tiny cute little thing I can hardly stand it! He might possibly be the smallest calf we've ever had at the ranch.
Fideo's mama is Bossy, and I've been dying for another dun calf from her and here he is!
DOB 6/28/25. Highland cross (Highland x Highpark, 75% Highland), dun, mini, horned, chondro+. Color, chondro, and polled status confirmed via UC Davis.
WAIT LIST (contact us to get on the waitlist).

BBR Kyle
Bringing up the rear of the Spring calving season is little Kyle! (from South Park, get it? lol) He's a cutie patootie beltie, and here is is with his bestie pasture mate, Fideo. The two of them are the same size and love taking naps together!
Kyle's mama is Lelo, our OG beltie mama. Sadly she lost her calf last year, so we were keeping all our fingers crossed for her this year, and she did so great!
DOB 6/30/25. Belted galloway, black with complete belt, mini, polled, chondro+. Chondro status confirmed via UC Davis.
AVAILABLE in the fall after weaning.

Fall Calving Plans: Sept-Oct 2025!
We have a few more calves lined up for Fall, expecting calves between late September and early December so check back then!
-
Winifred -- exposed to an outside mini white park bull. I am really excited to see the flash from her calf.
-
Whitley -- exposed to an outside mini white park bull. I expect the colors on this calf will be beautiful.
-
Wilma -- exposed to mini white park bull. I can't wait to see what interesting flashy colors come with her calf.
-
Wrenn -- exposed to an outside mini white park bull or mini jersey. Wrenn is by far our smallest mama. Her calf should be teeny tiny.
-
Carter -- exposed to Cash, for his first ever calves. So excited for this pairing!
-
Millie -- exposed to Cash, for his first ever calves. I'm hoping for a teeny tiny highpark. :-)
-
Darina -- exposed to Cash. However, she came up open when we tested so just not sure if she's bred or not.

Brida (2024)
Brida is our firecracker, spitfire, hell-on-wheels, little-but-fierce, lovin life, tails up kinda girl! She's the second calf of Tink one of our favorite mamas on the ranch. And Brida is up in everyone's business, 24x7. She's short, fat, spunky, and would look amazing in your pasture. Brida is chondro+.
DOB 5/31/24. Black belted. Polled. Expected mini size, not quite micro mini but very small.
Brida's mama is Tink, and her sire is definitely Ŧ our chondro beltie bull.
SOLD

Dallas (2024)
Dallas was our surprise calf for the year! We had Marianne and Bossy under watch in the maternity pen. One late afternoon we were cleaning the pens because I thought surely a baby was coming soon. And I looked across to our south pasture and said out loud, "You've got to be kidding me!" Ginger knocked it out of the park, unassisted, with a crazy cute little red bull calf. Our naming theme for 2024 is The Last Kingdom, but Dallas was born on the night the Dallas Stars won to advance to the Western Conference Finals.
DOB 5/17/24. Red (E+/e). Horned. Mid-mini size (non-chondro). Full highland.
Dallas' mama is Ginger, one of the ranch favorites, and sire is Ryder.
SOLD

Eadith (2024)
Apparently Bossy didn't like the competition, and about 23 hours after Ginger had Dallas, Bossy delivered Eadith. I call her Grumpy Girl Eadith because she was born with an adorable baby calf underbite that made her look soooo grumpy all the time!
We've never used ear tags at Bossy Boots Ranch, but we might this year because I cannot tell Eadith and Dallas apart unless I peak at their bidness end.
DOB 5/18/24. Yellow (E+/e and one Dh). Horned. Mid-mini size (non-chondro). Full highland.
Eadith's mama is Bossy, and sire is Ryder.
SOLD

Hild (2024)
Talk about a bundle of perfection! This tiny girl is a beautiful deep black color, chondro+, and horned. She has a hard time keeping up with Eadith and Dallas, but that doesn't stop her from trying!
DOB 5/21/24. Black. Horned. Mini size (chondro+). 75% highland.
Hild's mama is Marianne, our only black highland. Sire is no doubt Boots, our chondro highpark bull. But apparently Boots forgot his color stamp this day.
SOLD

Finan (2024)
Finan was born about 5 hours after Stiorra, and was our second ranch suprrise! Mama Jester was in the general weaning pen. On the morning I checked her and said no bag, maybe will be tomorrow. About 5 hours later I went out to do chores and what tha?!?!?! There's a baby! Fortunately for all of us, Jester learned a lot with her first calf last year. With Finan, she didn't forget she had a baby, knew her job was to dry him off and feed him and do all the mom things.
DOB 6/11/24. Black belted. Polled. Chondro+.
Finan's mama is Jester, and the sire is no doubt our chondro beltie bull Ŧ. Jester is Available as a pair with Finan, or on her own after weaning.
SOLD

Stiorra (2024)
After clearly making a mistake and giving up Lovey x Ryder first calf last year (Scooter), I've been waiting for months to see this new baby! This power couple did not disappoint! Stiorra made her way into the world unassisted, and popped right up and nursed. She's a beautiful silver gray color right now, and we have testing pending to find out if she's silver or dun. Whatever the formal color, she's beautiful!
DOB 6/10/24. Suspected Silver or Dun, Horned, Mid-mini size (non-chondro), pending testing. Full highland.
Stiorra's mama is Lovey, and her sire is Ryder our dun highland bull.
SOLD

Scooter (2023)
Scooter! We love you! Born on a cool-warm morning July 21, Scooter could be the most beautiful calf we've had at Bossy Boots Ranch. (Wait, do I say that about all of them...?) He's non-chondro, but he's also still just a little guy, coming in at just over 23", but based on those ears I know he's destined for big things! Scooter's mama is Lovey, our yellow highland girl. And he's the first calf out of Ryder, our dun highland bull. Scooter is confirmed silver dun (black with wildtype and double dilution).
SOLD

Sammie (2023)
Sammie is an amazing yellow, chonky, hairy, cute square faced bull. And he LOVES to pose for the camera like he's on the catwalk. Sammie waited until the heat of the summer to join us, August 27, but fortunately he chose the early morning hours. Just like last year, mama Peanut waited for me to return home after having been out of town, and then she popped him out unassisted. Samme is confirmed yellow and non-chondro. He was a little pipsqueek at birth at around 22". Sammie is our second calf out of Ryder, our dun highland bull, and we couldn't be happier!
SOLD

Piper (2023)
This beautiful dun girl was born early hours of May 21 by her first time momma, Bossy. She kicked off our 2023 calving season, and if she had been a red we might have named her firecracker! She stood quickly, walked quickly, nursed quickly ... I think she's taught Bossy as much about being a mom as Bossy has taught her.
Born at just over 21", Piper has a beautiful deep body, shortie legs, and block head of a classic. Her coat is thick and deep and gorgeous, and we're loving watching how her colors are shifting in the way that duns do.
Piper is confirmed chondro+ and expected to mature mini sized. Piper is 3/4 highland, but heterozygous polled (which means she will not have horns, but her offspring could). And her color is confirmed dun, which black as dominant and wild type (Ed/E+)! This means depending on the color you pair her with, she could product any highland coat color. Sire is our little highpark bull, Boots.
SOLD

Ollie (2023)
Marianne delivered this perfect mini highland cross bull calf, Ollie, well after dark on May 21. He could be the most chill calf we've ever had! When he was a couple days old we caught him to do some "baby maintenance", and he fell asleep while he was getting a bum wash. Lol. His coat is so dark and thick, that I'm having trouble getting pictures that don't look like black puddles with ears. Ollie is 3/4 highland, confirmed non-chondro, and is expected to mature mid-mini sized. He is also confirmed heterozygous polled (which means he will not have horns but his offspring might). Sire is our little highpark bull, Boots.
SOLD

Harley (2023)
Harley picked one of the hottest days of the year at the hottest time of the day to grace us with her presence on July 23. She's a petite little thing, except that she has legs for days! Her mama, Jester, is a first timer and couldn't quite figure out why baby didn't follow when she walked off and moo'd at her. So Harley and Jester spent a few days in upgraded accommodations so they could get the hang of things. The pair is all good now, and loving life with the rest of the BBR babies. Jester is confirmed non-chondro and should mature similar size to her mama as a mid-mini. Harley's sire is our mini bull TT.

SOLD -- went home with her bestie Belle to a lovely couple starting their mini cow journey. .

Belle (2023)
This girl Belle already takes after her mama, Tink. She's got a tiny body but a big personality! Tink is a first time mama, but this pair bonded hard and fast. Belle was born on Aug 5 at right about 22". Belle is non-chondro, but will be naturally small like her mama Tink, who's non-chondro and only about 36". She does have a "full belt" in that it goes all the way around, but there's a black circle on her back in the middle of the belt. Harley's sire is our mini bull TT.
Click here for more pics and antics of the Bestie Beltie Girls.
SOLD -- went home with her bestie Harley to a lovely couple starting their own mini cow journey.

Barnaby (2023)
Barnaby is the only beltie bull for us this year, and he's a cute as a button! Inky black, super thick hair, short and squatty, full belt. His mama is Lelo, the most chill, laid back mama in our beltie herd. And while Barnaby has spunk and gets the zoomies like any baby, he's definitely got his mana's personality.
Barnaby was my birthday suprise, born September 19 early in the morning at 22". He is confirmed chondro, which he got from his sire, our mini bull TT.
SOLD

Thor (2022)
Thor was born June 30, 2022 in a thunderstorm, to one of our favorite cows Peanut and our little 36" highpark bull Boots. He's a perfect mix of his mama and daddy -- daddy's color pattern (highpark), mama's color (dun tips), daddy's masculine body with mama's short legs, daddy's interest in the ladies, and mama's chill personality. Born with dun tips at 25" Thor is 3/4 highland and non-chondro. At 16 mo and 40", Thor is expected to be mid-mini sized and a good choice for small non-chondro or larger chondro ladies.
Click here for more info and pics about Thor and how he's developing.
SOLD

Gilligan (2022)
This sweet newborn picture of Gilligan belies the fact that he is all boy! Inquisitive, friendly, and scared of nothing. Except his mama who can settle him right down for a much-needed nap. Gilligan was born at about 25" to his topline in mid Feb to Marianne, the only black highland in our fold, out of an outside sire. Gilligan is horned and suspected non-chondro. With his small but bullish frame and beautiful hair, he'd make a great herd sire for a small framed chondro positive female breeding program.
SOLD

Millie (2022)
Ginger, the sweetest highland in our herd, gave birth in February to a beautiful redhead, Millie. Born at 24" to her topline, Millie so far is taking after her mom with her small frame, rich coloring, and sweet disposition. Millie is horned and suspected non-chondro and would make a perfect addition to any heritage sized highland herd or chondro+ sire breeding program.
SOLD

Clementine (2022)
This gorgeous dun tipped high park, Clementine, is the smallest calf born at Bossy Boots Ranch so far this year, at barely 21" to her topline. Clementine is confirmed chondro+ per testing, and she should mature in the mini/low-mid range. Her sire is Lovey, our 42" red highland. And she definitely inherited the boots from her sire Boots, our mini 36" highpark. Clem is 3/4 highland, and I can't wait to see her colors mature, with classic looks and lots of fluff.
